Key Considerations

Project Area

We are studying various alignment options for Road P1 (Tai Ho – Sunny Bay Section),  which may include the construction of at-grade roads or viaducts along the coastline, on hillsides, or on reclaimed land.  During the study process, we will fully consider the existing conditions of the project area and the impact of the project on the nearby environment.

The prime objective of constructing Road P1 (Tai Ho – Sunny Bay Section) is to improve the road traffic network in North Lantau.  We will identify the most suitable alignment option to connect with existing and planned major roads and development projects.

Reclamation Extent

For the construction of Road P1 (Tai Ho – Sunny Bay Section), it is proposed to reclaim land along the coast outside Siu Ho Wan Depot.  This involves about 15 hectares of reclaimed land.  The area of reclamation will maintain a certain distance from the Brothers Marine Park.

Conserving the Areas near Yan O Wan

There are two Sites of Archaeological Interest (Luk Keng Tsuen and Yam O) near Yan O Wan.  In order to conserve the ecological environment and avoid creating impact on these areas, the alignment of Road P1 (Tai Ho – Sunny Bay Section) will be designed to stay as far away from these areas as possible.
