With the phased completion of the planned development projects in North Lantau (e.g. Tung Chung New Town Extension), it is anticipated that the traffic congestion of North Lantau Highway (NLH) during peak hours will deteriorate from 2031 onward.  To relieve the traffic pressure on NLH, the Government is taking forward an investigation study for Road P1 (Tai Ho – Sunny Bay Section).

The Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) has commenced an investigation study for Road P1 (Tai Ho – Sunny Bay Section) in June 2021. We are currently studying various alignment options, assessing the related impacts and formulating an implementation programme for the project.
